Acupuncture is a healing art developed in China over
2000 years ago that involves the insertion of very fine
needles into various points on the body for the purpose

of eliciting a physiologic response to treat a disease or
condition. Interest in utilizing veterinary acupuncture has
been on the rise since the 1970s, although acupuncture
has been successfully used on animals almost since its
existence. The American Veterinary Medical Association
approves and supports acupuncture as a viable treatment
modality.
